What is clean beauty?
Clean Beauty has become an increasingly popular term in recent years and can mean something different according to who you ask. To us, clean beauty means science-backed formulas that only contain what is needed for our health and our planet's health. Our main focus is keeping the microbiome of the skin happy and healthy. This means leaving out harsh chemicals, synthetic dyes and fragrances.
How long will it take to get my order?
Generally, orders are packed and dropped off to the post office within 3-4 days.
What is your return policy?
Due to the handmade nature of our products we do not accept returns at this time unless the product is broken or defective.
What is the difference between face oils and cream moisturizers?
Traditional cream moisturizers are made up of oil and water. That means that bacteria growth is a factor, so in order to keep a water and oil mixture from becoming moldy, broad spectrum synthetic preservatives are needed. When your skin is exposed to synthetic preservatives, the healthy bacteria living on skin is then killed along with it, causing an imbalance in microflora. The bacteria that lives on skin and within our gut plays a vital role in overall skin health, which is one reason why we stay away from synthetic preservatives in our recipes.
Plant-based oils do not require a preservative, and are the real hydrating ingredient behind moisturizers. For these reasons, we chose to stay away from using a harsh preservative just to have a creamy texture, when our nourishing face oils have the same moisturizing benefits for skin.
What is the difference between your two Face Oils?
Nox contains deeply hydrating and antibacterial oils. Nox is made up of essential fatty acids, vitamins, healing herbs like Calendula and Manuka and hydrating Rose Otto essential oil. Nox is best for oily, acne-prone skin as well as dry, compromised skin.
Sol contains 6 antioxidant-rich oils. These oils create a barrier which protects from free radicals that can cause oxidative stress and cell damage. Sol contains no essential oils. Sol is best for sensitive, dry and normal skin.
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?
We always recommend asking your physician before switching any routine, even skin care. Some essential oils are unsafe during pregnancy and we generally recommend staying away from them. We do have many products that do not contain essential oils like: Nitro Body Scrub , Sea Salt Spray , Sol Protective Face Oil and Bath Tea

If you do not use any synthetics, how do you preserve your products?
We are grateful to have spent much time making mistakes at the very beginning of Potion which allowed us to learn and grow. After studying under skin care therapists and taking courses in cosmetic formulation, we were able to make educated decisions when creating products that allow us to go without synthetic preservatives. Everything from the light-blocking glass vessels our products come in, to utilizing plant-based preservatives helps to keep our products safely preserved while staying microbiome-friendly.
